Edna Mae Hardin

Long time Nixa resident Edna Mae Hardin went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents Brack and Zanna Coomer, husband Frank, daughter Francine Dabbs, and brothers Ernie and Jack Coomer. She is survived by her son James Hardin, daughters Sharlene Osborne and Christine Nielsen, brother Howard Coomer, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and friend like a sister Rose Maisel. Born in Dayton, Ohio on October 18th 1931 Edna traveled many places around the world as the spouse of a career Navy Chief. Many of those travels included being solely responsible for four children and at one point the caretaker of a kid brother in the absence of her husband as the Navy had Frank “go on ahead.” She met the challenges with grace, dignity, and a firm hand. As a person of selfless service, she was a career psychiatric care Registered Nurse. She worked in many facilities in many roles; from the old State Hospital system to charge nursing in facilities in the Springfield, Missouri area. She held both a Bachelors and a Master’s degree in nursing. She loved music dearly and was a very accomplished piano player. She could read music, play by ear, and could transpose to any key in her head, a difficult task for most non-professional musicians. She sang and played in many churches, in addition to being the accompaniment piano player on the radio in a weekly church service in Ohio in the early 1950’s. She enjoyed extraordinary health and lived in her home until her passing. Edna was a mother to many and has left a host of friends and untold people that she helped along the way that are known only to God, for which she will be greatly rewarded. Her family will greatly miss her wisdom, kindness, and life long guidance. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Private burial will be in Springfield National Cemetery.

From my earliest memory , you were there. I have many memories growing up with you in it. Including a trip across country with you and your two youngest girls in 72. You were my mothers longest and oldest friend. Your life and memory is etched and intertwined with my family and our hearts. Until we meet again in our fathers house , you are loved and held dear.
