Lana Jo Dicke, 80, passed away peacefully at her home on October 30, 2026, with the love of her life, her husband Marlin, by her side. She was born on October 20, 1946, in Pratt, Kansas, to Bill and Bess Munch.
Lana graduated from Pratt High School and continued her education at Pratt Community College, where she met Marlin Dicke. The two were married on September 1, 1966, and began their life together in Wamego, Kansas. While Marlin worked toward his degree, Lana worked at the college. They later traded places, allowing Lana to earn her bachelor's degree in sociology from Kansas State University while Marlin worked.
Their journey eventually brought them to Springfield, Missouri, where Lana began a long and successful career in the insurance industry. She was given the opportunity to join a new business on the ground floor and became the very first employee hired by American National Insurance. Over the years, she worked her way into a supervisory role, overseeing 28 women. She often joked that supervising all 28 of them was easier than taking care of one Marlin! After approximately 30 years of dedicated service, Lana retired as Records Manager, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, commitment, and dedication.
Lana was a woman who always went above and beyond, whether at work or for the people she loved. She was a devoted caregiver to both of her parents and never hesitated to do what needed to be done. In her quieter moments, she could often be found with a good book, especially mystery, detective, and religious novels, or faithfully watching her favorite game show, Jeopardy. She and Marlin shared many adventures, including restoring a couple of houses together and making their annual visits to Santa Fe, a place she dearly loved.
Lana often said she had paid her dues to society and then some, and those who knew her would certainly agree. She gave generously of herself, worked hard, loved deeply, and always seemed to find a way to do a little more than was expected. Above all, she shared a lifetime of love and companionship with Marlin, her partner through all of life's adventures. Her presence, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lana is survived by her adoring husband of 60 years, Marlin Dicke; her sister, Ronda; and four nieces, Sonda, Tosha, Jess, and Susan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Bess Munch.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, and cremation rites are accorded by Adams Crematory.
