Tony Parrish

February 25, 1958 — April 7, 2022

William Anthony “Tony” Parrish, 64, passed away peacefully at his home on April 7, 2022, surrounded by family. Tony was born February 25, 1958 in Comanche, Texas to William B Parrish, and Barbara Parrish Haun. Tony was raised in Springfield where he attended Kickapoo High School and then attended Missouri State for several years.

Tony began working at City Utilities as a meter reader in 1977. Tony was transferred to the gas construction department as an installer where he worked for over 30 years. He retired from City Utilities in 2013, and became the business manager for IBEW 753. He was passionate about defending the position of the members he was proud to represent. He was planning on retiring in June, at the end of his third 3-year term. Tony was a very proud member of Local 753 for 43 years and made an everlasting impact on his local.

Tony had a reputation for being generous, and for being an extremely sociable person that had never met a stranger. He was known to be the life of the party. He was very loving and had good friends in great numbers. Tony married the love of his life Shelia (finally after 15 years), in 2013 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Highlandville and loved her family as his own.

Tony enjoyed lake life at his house on Table Rock for 33 years. On weekends he could be found with Shelia and family on the boat dock, or sitting on his deck that he loved so much. He loved preparing and eating meals and was known for his grilling techniques, which he took very seriously. He played guitar for many years and with some encouragement, played on stage at the Ozark Mountain Amphitheater several years ago. Tony also enjoyed tinkering on his 20 acres in Highlandville with his family. Of all the things that Tony enjoyed doing over the years, what he loved the most, was being a Papa to his Grandson Jackson.

Tony is survived by his wife Shelia of Highlandville. His daughter Carrie Rantz, Son-in-law James Rantz and Grandson Jackson of Spokane. Mother Barbara Parrish Haun of Springfield. Brother Michael Parrish and Niece Mariel Parrish of Peoria, IL. He also leaves behind a host of family and friends.
