William "Bill" L. Shortt

William L. “Bill” Shortt, age 60 of Sparta, died October 1, 2025. He was born December 2, 1964 in Springfield, the son of Samuel and Dorene (Swearengin) Shortt.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Sparta and Oldfield.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dixie Shortt of Sparta; his children, Tabitha Garrison and son Mason Garrison of Oldfield, Timothy Vermillion and wife and three daughters of Stott City, Angel King and husband and two sons of Springfield and Helena Vermillion and two daughters of Springfield; his siblings, Dennis Shortt and wife Susan of Sparta and Gary Shortt of Sparta; a brother in law, Bob Weter of Sparta; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts; and many friends, coworkers and neighbors.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Sandra Weter.

A graveside service for Bill Shortt will be held at 12:00 p.m. noon on Friday, October 10, 2025 at Sparta Cemetery, Sparta, Missouri, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with John Mitchell officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
