Thomas F. Pomiber III, born January 30, 1951, in Troy, New York, to Thomas F. Pomiber Jr. and Francis D. Kelly, passed peacefully on April 5, 2026, going home to the Lord with the same quiet strength and steady spirit that carried him through life.

He spent more than 40 years as an over-the-road truck driver, a career that suited his independent nature, strong work ethic, and love of the open road. When he retired in 2019, he left behind not just miles of highway, but countless stories, friendships, and a reputation for reliability that few could match.

Though he covered much of the country in his working years, Tom’s favorite destination was always New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where he vacationed annually with his family and many longtime friends. Those trips were filled with laughter, sunshine, and the kind of memories that only grow richer with time.

Tom had a gift for enjoying life in the simplest and best ways. He loved singing karaoke (with confidence that far outweighed any concern for perfection), playing a round of golf, sitting down for a good card game, and heading out on camping trips. But more than anything, he cherished time with his family—especially evenings spent around the backyard firepit, where stories were told, jokes were shared, and everyone felt at home.

Known for his quick wit and impeccable timing, Tom had a “wicked” sense of humor that could catch you off guard and leave you laughing long after the moment had passed. He didn’t need to be the loudest voice in the room to be the funniest—he just needed the right moment.

To many, he was simply “Poppy.” It wasn’t just a nickname; it was a role he embraced fully. Once you met Tom, you were family—no exceptions. His warmth, generosity, and easygoing nature made people feel welcome, valued, and at ease.

Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years Sheila Kinsella Pomiber; children Shannon White, Antoinette Williams, Janis Michalski, and TJ (Marcia) Pomiber; grandchildren Brittaney (Jake) Benoit, Jack-Lynn Williams, Erika (Jared) Natale, Jack (Calvin) Morin, Racquel (Brian Lee) Morin, Jaiden Pomiber, Trey Jenkins, Haylee Jenkins, and Leighton Pomiber; great grandchildren Jayden Natale, Victoria Benoit, Jace Natale, and Winry Lee; and sisters Patricia Mollnow and Pamela Pomiber.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Albert Quillinan and Timothy Pomiber.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the funeral service lead by Jamie Bilyeu to follow.
