Shirley Mae Jensen, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in her cherished hometown of Ozark. Born on September 1, 1936, in Rogersville, Missouri, she was the beloved daughter of Henry Lafayette and Mary Marie (Plank) Layne.
Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her four devoted sons: Wayne Rice and his wife JaDonna of Ozark, John Rice of Selmore, Paul Rice of Ozark, and Robert Rice of Ozark. Her heart was further enriched by the joy of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought light and laughter into her life.
Shirley's journey was not without its hardships. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Leo “Frog” Rice in 1982, and her second husband, Steve Lee Jensen on August 30, 1998. She also mourned the loss of her parents, her son Ronnie Rice, and two precious infant daughters, Sherry Marie and Virginia DeEtta.
A retiree from Fasco Industries in Ozark, Shirley dedicated her time to nurturing her creative passions. She found great joy in making candy, sewing, painting, and expressing herself through various arts and crafts. Notably, her handmade sock monkeys adorned with red pom-poms became a delight at Cracker Barrel, bringing smiles to countless faces.
To honor Shirley's life and legacy, a memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory.
