Sharon Hook Corbett

October 21, 1940 — June 15, 2026

Ozark

Sharon entered the loving embrace of Jesus on June 15th, 2026.

Sharon Sue Hook Corbett was born on September 21, 1940, in Billings, Missouri, to Lloyd "Jack" and Laura Henson — and from the very beginning, she had a gift for making the world more beautiful.

After graduating from Republic High School, Sharon attended Southwest Missouri State University, where a fateful glimpse of a handsome square dancer performing at the campus union — and later on the beloved Ozark Jubilee television program —changed the course of her life. That dancer was Dwayne Hook, and their love story and marriage would span 41 devoted years and five children before his passing in 2001.

Sharon was a collector of beautiful things — cottage garden flowers passed down from her mother and cherished friends, roosters, dolls, and anything that carried the warmth of a romantic and vintage aesthetic. Her gardens were a living reflection of her heart: layered, lovingly tended, and full of blooms with stories behind them. She never met a flower she couldn't find a home for, or a person she couldn't make feel welcome.

Her deep affection for seniors and her appreciation for the grace of years well-lived made her a natural as Activity Director at The Baptist Home of Ozark, where she delighted residents with tea parties, creative programming, and genuine joy in serving them. In a tender full-circle moment, Sharon returned to The Baptist Home as a resident herself for the past five years —cared for by some of the same devoted staff she had once served alongside. They loved her right back.

Sharon's faith was the cornerstone of everything. She and Dwayne began attending First Baptist Church of Ozark when they moved to town in the late 1970s, and her love of Jesus was never a quiet thing — she shared it freely with coworkers, friends, and family, woven into conversation and kindness with equal measure.

Sharon was blessed to find love twice in her life. Her 20-year marriage to Jerry Corbett brought new joy, new hobbies, and new collections into her world. Their honeymoon to Mackinac Island — with its sweeping gardens, horse-drawn carriages, and the grandeur of The Grand Hotel — became one of her most treasured memories, one she returned to again and again with a smile that said everything.

Sharon had a lifetime of deep, loyal friendships that she held as some of her greatest blessings. She loved fiercely and was loved in return.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dwayne Hook; her brother Charles Henson; her husband Jerry Corbett; and her grandson Brandon McGoldrick, who left us far too soon. She is survived by her 1st cousin Josephine Mooneyham, her sister-in-law Helen Henson; her five children and their families: Kim Hardin Smith (Mark), Karla DeClue (Chip), Kelly Frakes, Dwayne Hook II (Kristina), and Cindy McGoldrick (Darren); thirteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren — the living proof of a life poured out in love.

Of all the roles she filled in her remarkable life, the ones she wore most proudly were Mother and Memaw.

We take comfort in knowing that Sharon is now resting in the arms of Jesus, reunited with the loved ones who went before her — and surely marveling at the most magnificent garden she has ever seen.

"One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple." —

Psalm 27:4 (NIV)
