Ruth D. Carter

Ruth D. Carter, age 90 of Nixa, went to be with the Lord on October 29, 2023. She was born June 21, 1933 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Katherine (Unruh) Nachtigal.

As a child, Ruth accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Because of that, we have the assurance she is in Heaven today, and we will see her again. Anyone who puts their faith in Jesus can have this same assurance. Ruth was baptized on May 16, 1948.

Ruth went to high school at Berean Academy in Elbing, Kansas where she met Joe Carter. They were united in marriage on July 11, 1952. While in high school, she and a group of girl friends who shared birthdays in June formed a club know as the "Junebugs.” They kept in touch for 70 years and often reunited.

After high school Ruth worked in health care for many years and later became a certified nursing assistant.

Later in life she enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved to sew, do crafting and painting. She also enjoyed gardening, canning and loved mowing with their riding lawn mower. Spring fishing trips with friends from Kansas was one of her favorite activities.

She was very active in church, singing, teaching Sunday school, and helping with vacation bible school.

Survivors include: her husband, Joe Carter; their children, Kenneth J. Carter and wife Connie, Kathryn L. Heald and husband Robert, Janette R. Carter, and Danelle J. LeeMasters and husband Brian; and grandchildren, Jeremy Foster, Cara Blevins, Chelsey Roberts, Matthew Fisher, Joshua Fisher, Paul Heald, Stephanie Steward, Brian K. LeeMasters, and Aaron LeeMasters.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her eleven siblings, and a grandson, Nathan Fisher.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Calvary Bible Church, with Pastor Larry Pauley officiating. There will be a visitation immediately following the service.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory.
