Ronald Ellison, a cherished husband, devoted father, and beloved grandfather, passed away January 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and wisdom. Known affectionately as "Ron the Best" and "Pa'Pa." He was the proud father to two daughters, Krista Paladino and Naomi Murphy, and a treasured grandfather, great grandfather, godfather, and uncle.
Ronald was a man of intellect and insight, fondly referred to as our "encyclopedia brain," with a remarkable ability to provide answers; long before Google, there was Ron! His thirst for knowledge was evident throughout his life, and he was deeply loved for his thoughtfulness and loving nature.
A proud alumnus of St. Pius X, he received an English scholarship to Harvard University, a path he chose not to follow as he pursued his passion for archaeology instead. He attended Cleveland State University and Missouri State University, immersing himself in sociology and criminology. Ronald was a devoted servant of God, who guided his family through prayer and example, often wearing out many Bibles from constant study.
He dedicated his life to serving others in various capacities within his church, including roles as a deacon, janitor, choir member, usher, life group leader, and prison ministry team member. His beautiful baritone voice brought joy to many as he sang throughout his service.
Ronald was motivated by a deep sense of justice, actively standing against inequalities in the workplace. His advocacy efforts led to significant positive changes, which benefited many. He also expressed his heart for unity among Christians through his writings, encouraging others to live in brotherhood as taught in scripture. A proud member of his community, he played an essential role in a neighborhood revitalization project in North Springfield.
Ronald is survived by his loving family: wife Celestine his daughters Krista married to David Paladino and Naomi married to Wesley Murphy, his grandchildren, Kameron Bundy and wife Clarissa, Kirsten Floyd and husband Dustin, Connor Bundy and wife Courtney, Christian Bundy and wife Brooke, Ethan Paladino, Gabriella Paladino, Grace Paladino, Korbin Bundy, great grandson, Charleston Floyd, Godson, Darius Clark, nephew, Scott Ellison, and niece, Sheryl Ponds.
Ronald Ellison will be remembered not only for his many contributions to his family and community but also for his unwavering faith and the love he shared with all. His legacy will forever inspire those who knew him.
