Robert Lewis McLaughlin, age 67, of Sparta, Missouri, passed away on June 22, 2026. He was born on June 11, 1959, in Torrance, California, and graduated from Seymour High School in Missouri, class of 1977.
Robert was a devoted family man who shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Linda McLaughlin, for over 40 years. Deeply in love, they cherished each other, their animals, and their two daughters, Desiree and Sierra. The couple especially loved watching The Andy Griffith Show and collected the full series. Though quiet and introverted by nature, Robert was witty with a great sense of banter and humor, often hilarious when he spoke. He deeply loved his family and siblings. Robert had a deep love of the outdoors, fishing, and his animals, including his horse Fred and his remarkable dog Zack. A talented guitarist, Robert played beautifully and brought joy to those around him when he played. He took great pleasure in playing with the band “Middle of the Road,” which included his brother Keith and friends.
Athletic in his younger years, he was a reserved, kind soul with a sweet and calming presence. He began his career as a semi-truck driver in the 1970s and maintained a lifelong passion for trucks, particularly old rigs and his antique semi.
Robert’s warm spirit, gentle nature, wit, and dedication to his family, animals, and passions will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered as a caring husband, proud father, and adoring grandfather who showed his love through quiet acts of kindness.
Robert is survived by his beloved daughters: Desiree Lee McLaughlin and her children, Brianna, Nikaylee, and Tyler; Sierra Dawn McLaughlin and her children, Keira, Greyson, and Ava. He is also survived by his brother, Randy McLaughlin, and sister-in-law, LaTricia; his niece, Amber Dawn Bos and her children; his nephew, Travis Lee McLaughlin; his niece Christy (McLaughlin) Inman; nephew Jordan McLaughlin; nephews Steven and Austin McQueen; and many cousins.
