Pletcher E. Rogers

Pletcher Rogers, 91, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 in the presence of his family at his home in Sparta, Missouri . He was born in Sparta on January 19, 1932. He was married to Bonnie Shortt for 70 years until her passing on July 11, 2021.

Pletcher is survived by seven children, Dale Rogers and wife Elaine of Hudson, Florida, Marc Rogers and wife Deb of Harker Heights, Texas, Paula Weter of Nixa, Missouri, Noel Rogers and wife Karen of Oldfield, Missouri, David Rogers and wife Lisa of Harker Heights, Texas, Ruth Ann Rogers of Sparta, Missouri and Tom Rogers of Elkhead, Missouri. Pletcher was also blessed with an extended family of 26 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. 

Pletcher was preceded in death by his parents, Orlando Louis Rogers and Anna Francis Rogers, his 10 brothers and sisters, his grandson Jeremiah Rogers and his great grandson, Steven Gene Leonowicz.

Pletcher grew up in a hard working farm family and served in Korea during the Korean War. Pletcher’s family was recognized as the Farm Family of the Year at the Missouri State Fair. As a truck driver he drove over one million accident free miles. The bulk of his adult life was spent in service to his community and guiding his family. He served in law enforcement continuously throughout his adult life, including Deputy Sheriff Taney County, and Chief of Police of Rockaway Beach, Ozark and Sparta, Missouri. He also served as city councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem of Ozark.  His political leadership is evident in his service as Republican Party Chairman and Committeeman over several decades.  He served on several committees, boards and shook Presidents’ hands.

Throughout his life of service, the most important things to him were his devotion as  a Christian, Husband, Father and Grandfather. His loving and caring actions shaped the lives of his entire extended family and others.  He strived to be the example of character, courage, faith, service, charity, and devotion to moral principles for all in his community.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a Visitation will be held for Pletcher 5-7 PM on Tuesday, 11 April 2023 at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark.  A Memorial Service will be held for Pletcher at Noon, Wednesday, April 12th at the Funeral Home.  Following services, interment will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Pletcher may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Fair Haven Children's Home.
