Paula Jean Schone

August 15, 1961 — February 12, 2026

Bruner

Paula Jean Schone, age 64, of Bruner, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 15, 1961, in O'Fallon, Missouri, to Harold Schone and Hazel (Dorlaque) Southard.

Paula lived a life full of heart, creativity, and devotion to those she loved. Over the years she wore many hats — homemaker, construction worker, office employee, and server, most notably at Waffle House — but no role meant more to her than being “Grandma.” Her five grandchildren were the light of her life, and she poured endless love into each of them. She found joy in life’s simple treasures: painting beautiful landscapes, sketching, quilting special blankets for her grandchildren, playing marbles, working puzzles, traveling, and most of all, spending time with family. Paula had a rare gift — she could strike up a conversation with anyone and made people feel seen, heard, and cared for. Her kindness was effortless, and her heart was open to everyone.

Paula leaves behind her loving children: Rachel Braden and husband Jeremy, and their daughters Lillian and Leah; Joshua Hawkins; Christopher Hawkins and his son Oliver; and Shawn Hawkins and his daughters Ophelia and Dorothy. She is also survived by her mother, Hazel Southard; her siblings, Keith Schone, Denise Williams, Richard Schone, Laurie Garrison, Robert Schone, Ricky Southard, and Shelly Smith; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Schone; her stepfather, Bill Southard;her grandparents, Harvey and Geneva Schone and Neoma and Antwine Dorlaque; and her brother Victor Schone.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 16, 2026, at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark, with Pastor Michael Garrison officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1:00–2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, immediately prior to the service. Cremation will follow.

Paula’s warmth, laughter, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held in St. Charles in the spring.
