Patricia Ann Carter

Dec 23, 1940 — Oct 21, 2026

Patricia Carter, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and devoted follower of Jesus Christ, lived a life marked by faith, family, and a vibrant spirit. She will be remembered for her love of the Lord, her passion for life, her dedication to others, and her unmistakable sense of style.

Patricia was born on December 23, 1940, in Sterling, Colorado, to Mary and Kenneth Littlefield.  Raised on a ranch in New Raymer, Colorado, she developed an early love for the outdoors, physical activity, and the adventurous spirit that would remain with her throughout her life.

At just five years old, Patricia accepted the Lord as her Savior. Her faith became the foundation of her life, and she eventually led her own parents to the Lord. She loved reading her Bible, singing praises to God, worshiping with fellow believers, and being actively involved in church. Her relationship with the Lord was central to who she was, and her faith remained a source of strength and comfort throughout her life.

While attending Evangel College, Patricia met the love of her life, Roland Carter. They were married on August 20, 1960, beginning a marriage that spanned 62 years. Together, they raised two children, Todd Roland and Terri Deneen, building their family life in Casper, Wyoming. Patricia and Roland shared not only a love for one another and their family but also a love for ministry. In their early years together, Patricia taught piano and served alongside Roland as a youth choir director, combining her love of music, young people, and the Lord.

Patricia devoted more than 30 years of her life to teaching elementary school, where she invested in the lives of children through education and encouragement. Teaching was one of the many ways she shared her gifts with others, and her dedication to young people extended beyond the classroom.

An athlete at heart, Patricia was proud of her younger years as a champion barrel racer. Her ranch upbringing helped shape her adventurous nature, and she remained active throughout her life. She enjoyed working out, walking, snow skiing, and ice skating, and she carried the spirit of an athlete from her high school days into adulthood. Whenever the weather permitted, she loved being outside, enjoying God’s creation and the beauty of flowers.

And then there was Patricia’s style! She loved presenting herself in vibrant, classy clothing in every color imaginable. She was a snazzy dresser who embraced color and expressed her personality through the way she dressed. Her colorful wardrobe was a reflection of her vibrant spirit, and those who knew her will forever associate her with looking elegant, lively, and unmistakably Patricia. In her honor, her family invites those attending her Celebration of Life to wear bright, cheerful colors rather than traditional black.

In August 2022, Patricia experienced the loss of her beloved husband, Roland, after 62 years of marriage. Though separated by his passing, the love and life they shared remain an enduring part of her story.

Patricia’s greatest earthly treasures were her family and her faith. She is survived by her son, Todd Carter, and his wife, Andrea, and their four children: Jared Carter (Courtney), Schuyler Carter (Morgan), Stormie Carter Presley (Levi), and Jette Carter Housman (Luke). She is also survived by her daughter, Terri Carter, and her two children, Logan Banger (Daniela)and Deneen (Dawson).

Her legacy continues through her eleven (almost twelve) great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Remi, LauraMae, Montana, Beaux, Finleigh, Milli, Axel, Ashton, Connor, Ren, and Truett, who is expected in January. Each generation represents a continuing thread in the family she and Roland built and loved.

Patricia is also survived by her brother-in-law, Guy Carter; her sisters-in-law, Marsha Carter and Linda Littlefield, who held important places in her life; and a plethora of beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Kenneth Littlefield; her beloved husband, Roland Carter; and her brother, Jay Littlefield.

Though her family grieves her absence, they take comfort in the promises of God and the assurance of their faith. Jeremiah 29:11 offers a fitting reminder of the hope that anchored Patricia’s life:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Patricia’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, love, and the joy found in God’s creation. She leaves behind a family who will cherish her memory, a legacy of service through teaching and ministry, and countless memories of a woman who lived with color, energy, and purpose.

She will be remembered in the songs she sang to the Lord, the Scriptures she treasured, the children she taught, the flowers she enjoyed. Most of all, her family finds comfort in knowing that the faith she embraced as a little girl remained with her throughout her life.

Her earthly journey has ended, but her legacy of faith and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
