Nolan Holman

February 1, 1932 — November 28, 2022

Nolan Clay Holman (90) passed away November 28, 2022, at his home in Nixa, Mo. He was born February 1, 1932, near La Monte, Pettis County, Mo to Clay Joshua and Edna Maye (Beard) Holman. He married Delores Gail (Willliams, Woods) in 1983.

The family lived in Beaman, MO before moving to Norfolk, Va during WWII, where he was baptized and joined a Baptist church. He also sold newspapers. After returning to live in Sedalia, he graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1948. He worked delivering papers, selling shoes at a department store and at Coca-Cola bottling facility before joining the Air Force during the Korean War where he drove vehicles and refueled fighter jets. Upon returning home, he worked 34 years for the United States Postal Service in St Louis, Portland and Sedalia. After retiring, Mr. Holman drove school buses for Fort Osage School District for 15 years.

He enjoyed travelling, bowling, watching the Cardinals play baseball, and being with his church friends. He and his wife participated in mission trips to several countries including Thailand, India, Nicaragua, and Mexico. He was a member of First Baptist Church Sedalia, Buckner Baptist Church and Hopedale Baptist Church in Ozark, MO and participated in bus ministries. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin infant sisters, Marcelle and Lucille, his grandson, Kylan Farris, and granddaughter Shana (McGinnis) Franklin.

He is survived by his wife, Gail; brother, Gerald Holman and wife Betty, and his children, Rick and wife Patty (Carter), Cindy Dakota and husband Brian, Tammy Knott and husband Darrell, and Sherry McGrath and husband Tom; stepchildren, Yolanda (Woods) Overby and husband Daniel, John Woods and wife Sonja (Erichson) 14 Grandchildren: Jason McGinnis and wife Lisa, grandson-in law, Aaron Franklin, Lesli Arnold, Charlotte Atchley and husband John, Kyle Holman and wife Athena, Sarah Knott, Mahala (Overby) and husband Tyler Coker, Hannah (Overby) and husband, Ty Balty, Sarah Overby, Joel Woods, Kathryn Woods, Alaina Woods, Ben Woods, Joshua Woods and Elizabeth Woods. Also surviving are 8 great-grandchildren, Eastyn Arnold, Cohen Farris Smith, Xander Franklin, Bas Franklin, Adaline Holman, Ezra McGinnis, Carter Atchley and Josie Holman.

Arrangements are through Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, MO. Services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, December 2, at Hopedale Baptist Church, Ozark, MO. Graveside Services at 3:30 pm at Salem Cemetery, 30195 Salem Rd, Smithton, MO.
