Nancy Aykens

Nancy Joan Aykens (Bonnema), age 94, of Highlandville, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home of over 40 years on Monday September 7th, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 16th, 1932, Nancy was the daughter of Ted Bonnema and Marion Bonnema (Efting). She grew to become the proud matriarch of her family, dedicating her life to their care and happiness. She offered wisdom, guidance and thoughtful support to everyone she encountered.

She was a devoted member of many churches throughout her life and was especially fond of her time with Westminster Presbyterian Church of Springfield, Missouri and Ozark Presbyterian Church of Ozark, Missouri, where she founded and directed the bell choir. She possessed great gratitude for life, an enduring love of nature, a passion for arts and crafts and a lifelong desire to learn new things.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Aykens; her parents Ted and Marion Bonnema; her brothers Robert and Calvin Bonnema; and her sister Janice Sanders (Bonnema). Her legacy lives on through her four children, Mark Keever, Clint Keever, Claudia Ontiveros (Keever), and Ben Keever; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many other beloved family members. She will be greatly missed but her traditions and lessons will be carried on by the family who loved her dearly.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 2 pm, at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark.
