Max Glenn Wheeler

October 25, 1914 — January 11, 2011

Max Glenn Wheeler, age 96, of Ozark, was born October 25, 1914 in Jamestown, Missouri, the son of Thomas and Maud Wheeler. He passed away January 11, 2011 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. The Wheeler family moved to California in 1926. Max graduated from Chaffey Junior College and married Mary Frances Flinn. He and Mary Frances had four children. During World War II he was a flight instructor in Arizona for the Army Air Corp. Max returned to Missouri in 1945 where he farmed in the Ozark area and raised prize winning Angus cattle. He also had a dairy herd. He loved being outdoors and raising a big garden. He married Irene M. Lytle on August 1, 1970, and became a step-father to her three children. Max and Irene were devoted to each other. Max was a lifelong member of Selmore Christian Church and was a member of Masonic Friend Lodge #352 for over 50 years. He was preceded in death by: His parents: a brother Milfred and wife Elizabeth; a brother-in-law Richard Genteman; a step-daughter, Sylvia Jones; a great-granddaughter, Shelby Estep; and a step-grandson, Wade Allen Lytle. Survivors include: His loving wife, Irene; three daughters, Martha Anne Johns, Susan Wheeler, and Mary Beth Horst; a son, Michael Ames Wheeler; two step-sons, Doyle Lytle and wife Laura, Virgil Lytle and wife Connie; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Genteman. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. John"�s Hospice, Integrity Home Care, and caregiver Sharman Yocom for the loving care given to Max. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 15, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Bud Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 "� 7:00 PM Friday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Selmore Christian Church Memorial Fund, 112 Bessie Drive, Ozark, MO 65721.
