Nixa

Marjorie Ann Welch of Nixa, Missouri, passed away on July 30, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born on January 8, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, to John and Margaret Habick. Marjorie graduated from East High School in Des Moines and later united in marriage to Kent Welch on September 19, 1982.

Marjorie was a devoted wife, a loving caregiver, and a faithful supporter of her family. She was a determined and disciplined woman who lived her life with excellence. She loved hosting Sunday dinners, a cherished family tradition, and was known for her incredible cooking and baking. Feeding her family and friends brought her great joy.

She was a proud and devoted mother and grandmother who never missed a chance to brag about her children and grandchildren. Marjorie served faithfully at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Community, where she gave of her time and talents wherever needed. She especially loved being part of the quilting group, creating handmade quilts that were donated to those in need.

Marjorie had a passion for gardening and enjoyed feeding birds—especially hummingbirds. After retiring from MidAmerican Energy in 2000, she and her family moved from Des Moines to Memphis, Tennessee, where she continued to serve others through her work at the local humane society. In 2012, they relocated to Nixa, Missouri.

Known for her friendly spirit, Marjorie never met a stranger. Whether working out with her Silver Sneakers group or chatting with people in the grocery store, she was always ready with a smile and conversation.

Her legacy of love, service, and strength will continue in the hearts of all who knew her.

Marjorie is survived by her husband Kent Welch; two sons, Kelly Winders, Kirk (Jill) Winders; three daughters, Sue (Terry) Williams, Beth (Isaac) Hunsberger, Kristin (Brian) Schroeder; three sisters, Janet (Nick) Cook, Carol Habick, Myra (Jerry) Xanders; 15 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, a son Donald Winders; and two brothers, John Habick, Jack Habick.
