Marilyn J. Sunkel, age 84, of Nixa passed away Monday, November 2, 2020. She was born May 30, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Lillian (Janacek) Gobel. She married William (Bill) Sunkel June 22, 1974. Marilyn was a homemaker. When her husband Bill retired from Lockheed Aircraft in 2001 they moved from Arlington TX to Nixa. Marilyn enjoyed reading and reading the Bible. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Nixa. When Marilyn lived in Texas she enjoyed going to Bible study and was a member of the Newcomers Club, in which new people in the community were invited for dinner and entertainment. Marilyn is survived by her husband; her brother Robert Gobel; and a niece Elizabeth Thompson and her husband Brian. Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Nixa with Pastor Dennis Miller officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at McConnell Bledsoe Cemetery, Nixa Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
