Manford Marlan Burkhart

Manford Marlan Burkhart, 74, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away September 28, 2026. He was born November 15, 1951, in Humansville, Missouri, to Manford and Claudia Burkhart.

Manford grew up in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, where he met the love of his life, Linda Hartman, while they were in high school. He began working for Linda’s father at the honey factory, and it wasn’t long before friendship blossomed into love. They were married October 26, 1970, and began their life together in Taneyville, Missouri. Later, Manford accepted a position with KAMO Power Company in Nixa, prompting the family to make Nixa their home.

Manford worked for KAMO Power Company for approximately 10 years before starting his own business, ML Fiber Optics. He also enjoyed doing subcontract work for Show Me Power Company. He retired in 2016 after many years of hard work.

A true jack of all trades, Manford had a heart of gold and was always willing to lend a helping hand. There was very little he couldn’t fix, and he took great pride in figuring out how to make things work. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and collecting model cars. One of his favorite things was caring for the family’s farmland in Bosworth, Missouri. He loved making trips there to restore and improve the property, always finding another project to work on.

Manford will be remembered for his hardworking nature, generous heart, and willingness to help others. Above all, he cherished his family and the life he shared with Linda.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda; sons, Marlan Dean Burkhart (Mandy) and Jeffrey Paul Burkhart; granddaughter, Mariah Burkhart; sisters, Cora Burkhart, Kay Nevels, and Pat Burkhart; and brother-in-law, Bruce Hartman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manford and Claudia Burkhart, and his brother, Leon Burkhart.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri, and cremation rites are accorded by Adams Crematory.
