Linda Bell Burks

September 18, 1950 — November 10, 2022

Linda Bell Burks, age 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Linda was born on September 18, 1950 to Walter and Eva (Kirby) Cawthra in Greene Co. Missouri. Linda was a graduate of the Ozark High School class of 1968. Linda was married to Jimmy L. Burks on October 12, 1968. Jimmy and Linda had two beautiful children, Janice (Burks) Myers and Randy Burks.

Linda’s first job in life was being a mother and housewife where she put the needs of her family first. In 2000, at age 48, Linda went to college where she earned an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Administrative Assistance, from Springfield Business College. Linda had a tremendous work ethic. She worked for Fasco Industries for 19 years. After leaving Fasco she worked for the City of Nixa, working as an administrative assistant for the Nixa Police Department and the Office of the Municipal Court. Linda retired from the City of Nixa in 2008. Linda always had a love for live entertainment and music. After her retirement, she decided to work in the Branson entertainment industry. In Branson, she held part-time positions at The Welk and Mansion theaters. She enjoyed meeting new people, serving others, and being a part of a team.

Linda instilled in her children a love of travel, a sense of adventure, and an excitement for learning and discovering new things. In her lifetime, Linda spent much of her time traveling, visiting Holland, Italy, Mexico, Vatican City, New York City, Hawaii, Alaska, Washington, DC, San Francisco, Disney World with her grandkids, all of the Great Lakes, and many other places. Her favorite place was always on a beach near the ocean. Linda loved all things Elvis, visiting Graceland many times. Linda liked fast cars; she worked as pit crew for her husband who used to competitively drag race. At family get togethers, her cheesecake was often the best part of the meal. Linda was a member of the Red Hat Ladies group, where everyone fought over who got to sit next to her at the gatherings.

Linda is survived by her daughter Janice (Burks) Myers of Nixa, MO; son Randy Burks of Fordland, MO; grandchildren Shalee Burks of Springfield and Landon Myers of Notre Dame, IN; her brother William Cawthra; and several nieces and nephews.

Linda was the youngest of nine siblings. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Burks; her parents; her brothers James Daniels, Roger Daniels, Robert Cawthra, and Gerald Cawthra; and her sisters Donna Murphy, Eula May Harvey, and Phyllis Belvins.
