Leonard “Douglas” Huff, age 79, of Nixa, passed away on May 24, 2026. Douglas was born on April 27, 1947, to Alvin and Emma Lou (Gimlin) Huff.
Douglas graduated from Ozark High School in 1965. He was raised on a dairy farm and learned the value of hard work early in life. When he was not helping milk cows, he enjoyed playing basketball.
On December 9, 1972, Douglas married Janet Marie Smith. Family meant everything to him, and he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply.
Douglas coached his boys’ basketball teams at the Boys Club and was a member of Huff’s Softball Team. He was known as an easygoing, thoughtful, and sentimental man. He loved giving Janet cards, and if he could not get out to buy one, he would write his own special words to give her instead. During his final days, nurses often said he was one of the sweetest and kindest people they had cared for and that he always had time for a joke.
Douglas worked about 30 years as a truck driver for Associated Grocers. He also worked for the gas company and at Fasco.
He especially loved crappie fishing at Truman Lake, where the family kept a camper and spent many happy times together. He was also a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Huff; his mother, Emma Lou Huff; grandparents, Nobel and Lily Huff; and brothers, Daniel Huff and Rick Huff.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Janet Huff; brothers, Tom Huff and Dale Huff; sons, Jon Huff (Sherry Huff), Timothy Huff, and Jeff Huff (Chrysalyn); grandchildren, Faith Huff, Truman Huff, Troy Huff, Ryne Huff, Annie Huff, and Josh Huff; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Hudson, Lincoln, and Charlee.
Visitation will be Friday, May 29, 2026, from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Hosea Bilyeu officiating.
