John Philip Stryczek, age 79 was a proud U.S Navy Veteran  and beloved husband and father. He went to the heavenly gates to meet his wife of 49 years on July 23, 2023. He was born on July 9, 1944 in Putnam, Connecticut to Ellen Stryczek and Stanley Stryczek.

John served in the U.S. Navy From 1963-1969. He served on the USS LaSalle as a seaman apprentice. He was a member of the honor guard for the official party. He was took part in the latest amphibious training exercise in the Atlantic since World War II. John also aided in the joint US Operation in the Dominican Republic. John also served in the Vietnam War and fought proudly for his country and freedom.

John was a simple man, loving his cup of coffee everywhere he was. John loved talking and meeting new people. He shared his love and passion for being a proud veteran and honoring his fellow veterans along the way. He loved his family more than life itself.

God saw that John was getting tired. A cure was not to be. So he put his arm around him and whispered, ”Come with me.” With tearful eyes we watched him suffer. We saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay. His golden heart stopped beating and his caring hands rested. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes “the best”.

John graduated from high school in Putnam, Connecticut.  John met Rose while employed at American Optical in Putnam, Connecticut, where they worked for many years. They were united in marriage on July 14, 1974. When their daughter Rebecca was five, Rose became disabled. John became the sole caretaker for his daughter Rebecca and his wife Rose. For many years, until his last day he took care of his beloved wife- being at her bedside through thick and thin and caring for his daughter and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Diggs and husband Millard Diggs; three grandchildren, Ty, Haley and Mia Diggs; a sister, Barbara Branscombe; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Rose Stryczek; and a brother, Stanley Stryczek Jr.

John and Rose will be interred at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield on August 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with military honors.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Cremation rites are entrusted in Adams Crematory.
