Blue Eye, Missouri

John Paul Goodson, age 70, of Blue Eye, passed away on May 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy rooted deeply in love, nature, and cherished stories. Born on October 3, 1955, in Columbia, Missouri, he was the beloved son of Raymond Francis and Evelyn (Pittenger) Goodson.

John’s spirit was intimately intertwined with the great outdoors. He found joy beside the river’s flow, weaving tales that captivated all who listened, and expressing his creativity through beadwork. His passion for learning about Native American history enriched his understanding of the world and inspired those around him.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Marshall Goodson and his wife Andi of Rogersville; Shana Attarzadeh and her husband Charlie of Portland, Oregon; Collin Goodson of Springfield; and John Goodson of Springfield. His warmth and guidance extended to his grandchildren — Brady, Ethan and his wife Brennah, Evelyn, and Cameron — and a great-grandchild, Everyly, who continues to carry forward his spirit. John’s family circle also includes his siblings: Ann, Mary Jane, Raymond and his wife Tammy, Doug and his wife Peggy, Martha and her husband Eric, and Patty and her husband John.

Preceded in death by his parents, John’s memory now lives on in the hearts of his loved ones who celebrate his enduring passions and gentle soul.

A memorial service fundraiser honoring John’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge in Ozark.

Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory, with arrangements under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. The time will be announced soon.

John Paul Goodson’s life was a testament to the simple joys of nature, the power of storytelling, and the bonds of family — a legacy that will forever echo in the lives he touched.
