Joe Maples

Reggie W. (Joe) Maples departed for his heavenly home on December 6, 2021 at Mercy Hospital.

Joe was born June 13, 1930 in the Flood Community at home, he was raised from age 2 by his aunt and uncle Grant and Lissie Maples. He went through eighth grade at the Flood School. On December 23, 1950 he was united in marriage to Betty Cox and to this union were born four children. He was a farmer, worked for Cox Livestock Auction, V-Mar Fertilizer, and drove a bus for Hurley and Galena Schools and provided for his family. He enjoyed fox hunting, wagon riding, taking drives to see wildlife, and camping which he and Betty always did everything together. Joe was a longtime member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, which he attended regularly until the last few years due to health and together they always took care of the cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lemuel and Clumby (Martin) Maples, his wife Betty, son Johnny, three brothers Alzie, Buck, and Bill, two sisters Maggie Aleshie and Elsie Richardson.

Survivors include Debbie Jo Maples of Nixa, Kirby and Sherry Maples of Crane, Georgia Maples of Highlandville, daughter-in-law Dwallin Maples of Highlandville. Grandchildren Jason and Melissa Maples, Sarah Jo Maples, Justin and Susie Maples, great grandchildren are Dawson, Anna, and Reece Maples. Step grandchildren Derek and Dana Raulston and Lindsay Cutbirth. Step great grandchildren Trey and Bailey Cutbirth, Tori and Arnold Raulston. Special friends Sherry Medlin, Robert and Tomi Doty and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services in Joe’s honor have been scheduled for Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Family will receive friends during visitation on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home – Nixa.

Burial will follow the service at Flood Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Adams Funeral Home – Nixa.
