Jared Christian Klatte

Jared Christian Klatte, 34, of Clever, MO passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.

Jared was born on April 9, 1989 in Edina, MN; the son of Mark and Leesa (Terpenning) Klatte. On December 12, 2012, Jared was united in marriage to Ashlee Fergen in Springfield, MO. Together, the couple shared over a decade of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Ashlee of Clever; his parents, Mark and Leesa; four brothers, Chris (Cassie) Klatte, Jason (Danielle) Klatte, Alex Klatte, and Jacob (Stephanie) Klatte; seven nephews, Dylan, Mason, Cruz, Jackson, William, Grayson, and Thomas.

Jared was a hard man to put into words.  “Genuine” and “authentic” come to mind, but what everyone remembers him for the most was his incredible patience and amazing ability to show more love than most are used to receiving.  No friend of his could match the friendship he gave in return and no stranger could stay a stranger in his vicinity for long.  His laughter filled every room he entered.

Another word that comes to mind is “tenacious,” as in, tenaciously kind towards others.  If someone didn’t like Jared, Jared worked on them until that person came to love him.  He loved to compliment the small details in people that most would likely never notice. This proved fortuitous during his 7.5 years at Steak ‘n Shake, where Jared would meet and woo his future wife, Ashlee.  

Jared was a reservoir of practical workplace wisdom and loved to mentor other cooks during his time in food service, both at Steak ‘n Shake and while working in the Ozark Correctional Center kitchens where he guided cooks within the prison population.  Even after leaving the food industry for customer service with T-Mobile, Jared never lost his love for cooking and sharing a good meal. 

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Orthodox Church in Springfield, MO. Friends and relatives are invited to a Visitation with the family the night prior to the funeral, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa, MO. Burial will be held following services in Evergreen Cemetery in Republic, MO. Priest Basil Ferguson officiating.
