James A. Henry passed away March 10, 2026. He was born July 25, 1936 in Lincoln County, Kentucky, the son of William Pollard and Lilliemae Carman Henry.
Jim served three years in the U. S. Marines and two years in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall.
Returning to civilian life, James became a Cincinnati firefighter. He then yielded to God’s call and became a Baptist Missionary, first to Ethiopia until it was taken over by Communists, then to England for 22 years, then to the Indians in New Mexico, finishing in England.
In retirement, James was a member of Victory Baptist Temple in Fairview, Kentucky, where he continued to lead souls to Jesus Christ. Two weeks before he died, he led one of his nurses to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Susan Kay Mooney Henry; his sons, David Richard Henry and Daniel Dean Henry; a daughter, Susan Lynn Valenzuela; stepsons, Jason Kia Nogle and James Charles Nogle; a granddaughter, Jennifer Leighanne Stoops; grandsons, Alexander James Peterson and Daniel James Henry; great granddaughters, Serenity Skye Peterson and Selene Grace Peterson; a great grandson, Khorbyn Evander Palmer; one brother, David Elmer Henry; and one sister, Charlotte Janelle Rice.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Marquita Daugherty; and a daughter, Gayle Ann Henry.
A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Ray Brinson officiating.
