James Paul Brumley

James Paul Brumley, Sr., 83, of Ozark passed away on Tuesday morning, August 9, 2022 at Hopedale Cottage in Ozark.

James was born on April 12, 1939 in McLeod, TX; the son of Franklin Ray and Dee (Walton) Brumley. James was the fifth of their seven children. On June 12, 1958, James married Rosa Lee Coleman. Together, the couple had two sons. James was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and served as an Elder at two different churches.

James loved music and attended Northwestern University to become a band director, graduating in 1960. He taught band in school for five and half years. In 1970, James decided to go back to school (at the request of Southern Hills Church of Christ) to get his Master's degree in Social Work at Louisiana State University to help in a program at the church in child care. James worked at the church for 17 1/2 years before spending another 13 1/2 years working for the Juvenile Court in Shreveport, LA. Following his work there, he retired.

James is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosa Lee Brumley; two sons, James "Jim" Paul Brumley, Jr. and wife, Kari of Washington state, and Bryan Keith Brumley and wife, Margaret of Milwaukee, WI; and four grandchildren, Jared Ian Brumley, Britanny Brumley, Jason Brumley, and Abigail Brumley.

Cremation Rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held for James from 11:00-1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Union Hill Church of Christ in Nixa.

James Brumley was a very kind & good man and a greatfather-in-law. Warm and welcoming to everyone he met, the kind of man who didn't know a stranger. He was a genuine man who wouldn't compromise his values and faithfully served his God and his Christian brothers and sisters for many years. I'm sure heaven welcomed him home with open arms this morning.
