Hazel (Kellhofer) Lauderdale was born on December 11, 1947. She was the fifth of six children born to Eugene and Wilma Kellhofer. She met Jesus, face to face a little after 10:00 p.m. on February 1, 2024, with family around her.
Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, and her favorite title, Nana.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years James; a daughter Shelley Hampton and husband Anthony of Ozark; and a son Scott Lauderdale of Mountain Grove; five grandchildren, Savannah Harrison and husband Ethan of Ozark, Alijah Hampton and Sydney Hampton of Ozark, Bryce Lauderdale and Bryer Lauderdale of Mountain Grove; and a step grandson, Brandon Barton and family of Mountain Grove.
Other family include her sisters Doris Johnson and husband Clifford, (both deceased), Deloris (Dee) Watts and husband Raymond (deceased), and Lynn Kellhofer; brothers, Don Kellhofer and wife Sheila (deceased), and Dale Kellhofer and wife Katie; brothers and sisters-in-law Charles Lauderdale (deceased) and wife Alti and John Lauderdale and wife Linda; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Hazel spent many years in the banking industry and many years working in the church. Her favorite job after she retired was just being "Nana" and being available when one of the grandkids needed something. For the last five years Hazel has been a bus aide on an Ozark Tiger Paw Preschool bus. Even during her health issues, she wanted to be on the bus so she could be a part time Nana to each of these little people.
Hazel was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for over 30 years. She was very active in women's groups and an event planner for her Sunday School class.
