Gary Glenn Lipscomb

Gary Glenn Lipscomb, 96, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home with family Thursday September 17, 2026.

Gary was born April 16, 1930, in Springfield, Missouri, to Harold Glenn Lipscomb and Dorothy Carol Lipscomb. His parents, sister Joanne Elizabeth Lowe, nephew Mike Lowe, and son-in-law Paul Henry preceded him in death.

Gary is survived by the sunshine of life - his wife of 68 years, Betty Lou Kuhnert Lipscomb. They married in 1958 and had 4 children and is survived by them. His children are Glenn Lipscomb (son) and his wife Jan Hartley and their son Caleb Lipscomb, Charles Lipscomb (son) and his wife Connie Wall Lipscomb and their children – Anne Lipscomb Prosch and her husband Keith Prosch and their children Hudson, Cooper, and Ellie, and Matthew Lipscomb and his wife Kelli and their children Betty and Banks. His daughter Diane Lipscomb and her husband Paul Henry (deceased 2011) and their children Alexandra and Katie Henry and his son David Lipscomb and his husband David Crum.

Gary is also survived by nephews Mark Lowe and his family, the family of Mike Lowe and Greg Lowe in the West Plains area.

Gary attended Springfield Senior High School graduating in 1948. He attended Drury College 1948 – 1952 and completed a degree in Accounting. Gary then served in the US Navy from 1952-54 as a Storekeeper 3rd Class. For the next several years, he worked with his father in the family business at Central Feed Company. In 1961, Gary and Betty moved to Arizona where he attended Arizona State University and received his master's in accounting and became a CPA. He owned and operated Lipscomb, Kirkpatrick and Company until his retirement from certified public accounting in 1986.

As a young man, Gary had a passion for cars, and this became his second career. Gary had partnerships from the 1980s through 2026 in a variety of dealerships including Ozark Chrysler Plymouth, Dwight Legan Automotive Group, and Lipscomb Ford Chrysler currently known as TriLakes Super Store in Branson. He owned and operated Lipscomb Motor Company and Lipscomb Mitsubshi, Suzuki, Volkswagen and Porsche as well. He retired from the automotive industry after 30 years in 2006.

Gary also was dedicated to the Community of Springfield. While at Drury, he was a proud member of the fraternity of Sigma Nu. He was a Springfield Rotary Club member and President of the Southeast Rotary of Springfield. He was a member of the York Rite Masons, Scottish Rite Masons and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and was potentate in 1982. He has been board members of the Visiting Nurse Association (1960’s), Board member and chairman for the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (1970’s), Board member for Guaranty Bank and Freedom Financial Group, president of the Southwest Chapter of CPAs, and was one of the founding directors of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.

He was a member of South Street Christian Church. He had strong faith in God, loved his family and his community. He is dearly loved and will be dearly missed by many.
