Franklin Dean Siemer

Oct 23, 1948 — Oct 2, 2026

Springfield, MO

Franklin "Dean" Siemer was born on October 23, 1948, in Denison, Iowa, to Frank and Gladys Siemer. He passed from this life surrounded by the love, faith, and family that meant so much to him throughout his journey.

Growing up on a farm in rural Iowa alongside his brothers and sisters, Dean learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and responsibility at a young age. Farm life shaped the man he would become, but those who knew Dean best also remember his playful spirit, mischievous sense of humor, and the close bond he shared with his siblings. The Siemer family was close-knit, and the love they shared remained a source of strength and joy throughout his life.

Dean graduated from Denison High School and later earned his teaching degree from Huron University in May 1973. He first married Mary Bodwell McAleavy, and together they welcomed four children: Kimberly, Crystal, Julia, and Troy.

In 1977, Dean moved to the Princeton, Missouri area, where a new chapter of his life began. There he met Donna, the love of his life, whom he married on May 28, 1978. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work and welcomed their daughter, Jody. For over 48 years, Dean and Donna shared a partnership marked by love, devotion, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to one another.

Dean was never afraid of hard work and wore many hats throughout his life. He was a teacher, truck driver, Deputy County Assessor, farmer, livestock producer, businessman, mentor, husband, father, and friend. In 1986, Dean and Donna relocated to the Springfield area, where he earned his State General Certified Real Estate Appraiser license and founded The Appraisal Agency. Together, they built and operated the business for 35 years. Dean was respected throughout the industry not only for his expertise but also for his generosity in helping and mentoring others. He believed that success was best shared, and he took great pride in helping aspiring appraisers learn the profession.

Faith was the foundation of Dean's life. He loved the Lord deeply and sought to live out his faith through service, kindness, and example. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and a Charter Member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Nixa, Missouri. Whether through church service, quiet prayer, or simply lending a helping hand to someone in need, Dean's faith could be seen in the way he lived each day.

More than anything, Dean loved his family. He was never happier than when surrounded by those he loved. He treasured family gatherings, celebrations, conversations around the kitchen table, and time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He took pride in their accomplishments, offered encouragement when needed, and genuinely enjoyed being part of their lives.

Dean found joy in simple pleasures. He loved listening to and dancing to country and western music, spending time outdoors camping, fishing, and hunting, and getting lost in the pages of a Louis L'Amour novel. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Missouri State Lady Bears basketball and enjoyed staying informed about the world around him. Most of all, he loved visiting with people. Dean never met a stranger. A conversation with him often started as a simple greeting and ended with a new friendship. His warm smile, quick wit, and genuine interest in others made people feel welcome and valued.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Donna Siemer of Springfield, Missouri; his children, Kim (Billy) West of Indianola, Iowa, Crystal (Joe) Dinsmore of Highlandville, Missouri, Julia (Mike) Stone of Highlandville, Missouri, Troy (Meghann) Siemer of Marshfield, Missouri, and Jody Siemer (Kara Warren) of Kansas City, Missouri.

He is also lovingly remembered by his 17 grandchildren: Katie (David) Arnett, Jonathan Brand, Bethany Fischer, Kara Darr, Meredith (Antony) Fonseca, Austin Dinsmore, Trenton (Emily) Stone, Nicholas Stone, Mitchell Stone, Zackary (Miranda) Siemer, Coltan (Kaitlin) Arentz, Jennessa Dishman, Jake Siemer, Nathanael Siemer, Jameson Warren, Isabel Warren, and Drew Warren; and nine great-grandchildren: Bentley, Alaska, Brian and Alexis Arnett, Ember Brand, Everett, Angelica, and Ezra Fonseca, and Lennox Stone.

Dean is also survived by his brothers, Max Siemer, David (Karol) Siemer, and Gail Siemer; his sisters, Pamela Lane and Patricia (Randy) Nemitz; his sister-in-law, Dona Siemer; his brother-in-law, Dick Maxwell; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gladys Siemer; his brother, Rex Siemer; and his sisters, Rosalie (Jim) Macumber, Lois Maxwell, and Marilyn (Dayle) Hilterbrand, sisters-in-law Mary and Betty Siemer.

Dean's life was a testament to faith, family, hard work, and kindness. His greatest legacy is not found in the career he built or the accomplishments he achieved, but in the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the example he set for those who knew him. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the lessons he taught, the love he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
