Opal “Faye” Swearengin met Jesus face to face on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. She was born on August 26, 1939, to Lloyd John and Opal Faye Schnake.
She was a sickly child, always suffering from asthma, which followed her into adulthood. As an adult, she obtained her beautician license and began doing hair. At any given time, our home smelled delightfully of perm solution or hair color. And of course, we all had those bangs! Later, she went to work for General Electric where she worked until she retired to stay home with her sweetie. Even then, she still made time for the occasional haircut or perm.
On November 30, 1962, she married the love of her life, Bill Swearengin, who brought an ornery little girl into the union, and Faye brought her three angels into the mix. This November would have been 63 years of wedded bliss for them – unheard of in this day and age!
Faye was a Christian for most of her life. In her earlier years, she was a member of Faith Non-Denominational Church in Monett, Missouri. In her later years, she became a faithful member of Ozark Assembly of God in Ozark, Missouri.
Faye was a giving person who truly cared for others. Always ready with her checkbook at church for a need or to support a missionary, and at home to purchase a toy for a child or clothes for someone; she had a heart of gold and taught her children to do the same.
Faye had a deep relationship with God and took her kids to church any time the doors were open and taught them to put their trust in God. She often felt called to pray for others and in the end, she said she was ready to see Jesus, and we know she did!
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Earl; her sisters Jeannie, Linda, and Kaye; and her beloved daughter, Debbie.
She is survived by her sweetie, Bill, her daughter Cheryll and her husband Steve Eoff of Nixa, her son Bud Swearengin of Ozark, her daughter Sharon and her husband Leonard Robertson of Ozark, her brother John and his wife Margie, her sisters Dorothy and Erma, 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Granny Faye, you were so loved, and you will be greatly missed by all who knew you.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeannie Julian with Faith Hospice of the Ozarks for her exceptional care.
A funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Missouri. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 a.m. A committal service will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Faith Hospice of the Ozarks, 123 Johnstown Dr., Rogersville, Missouri 65742.
