Evelyn Lewis

July 15, 1927 — July 26, 2022

II Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing” This is the testimony of Evelyn Lewis, age 95 years and 11 days.

Evelyn was born July 15, 1927, to Clara Susan Ellis Miller and Morris Ivan Miller. She was born in Medoc, Missouri, in Jasper County. She graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1945.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Dean Lewis on November 7, 1946. To this union one daughter was born, Alora Jane. Evelyn and Dean lived in Opolis, Kansas until 1990. They retired, sold their home and purchased a RV and began traveling on mission projects with RVICS and SOWERS. They traveled from the Mexican border to Canada. After completing 32 projects, because of health concerns, they decided to purchase a home in Nixa, Missouri to be near family.

Evelyn worked for the US Census Bureau, Asbury Elementary School, and National Pizza Hut Corporate office.

Evelyn loved to teach children about Jesus at church, summer camp, VBS and back yard bible clubs. Dean and Evelyn were both saved in 1952. They opened their home up to many visiting missionaries and evangelists. Telling others about Christ and the plan of Salvation became a priority in their lives. They were both members of North Nixa Baptist Church at the time of their passing. There prayer for you today is that you know Jesus as your Savior. And that one day you will see them again in Heaven.
