Virginia Ernestine Applegate, 75 of Ozark, passed away in her home on May 22, 2026. She was born on May 27, 1950 in Springfield, to Virginia Mae Daniels.
Ernestine attended school in Rogersville, then later moved to Ozark, Missouri. She worked at the G.E. Factory. She is survived by her two sisters, Ruth Chandler and Mary Hunt, two daughters, Sherri Applegate of Rogersville and Dana Knight Ozark.
Ernestine is also survived by James Walker, father of grandchildren Brittany and Kevin, four grandchildren; Brittany Thompson and her husband Aaron Sanders, Abbi Pettit, Kevin Walker and his wife Amanda, and Seth Applegate and his fiancee' Hope Vandeventer and three great-grandchildren; Shaun, Kinsley, and Koletin and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Earline Davis, her brother, Gary Daniels, her grandparents, Ernest and Eva Daniels who raised her and her sister when their mother, Virginia Barnett passed away and a great-grandson, Hunter Walker.
Ernestine was an avid reader she loved playing video games, and solving various types of puzzles. She was the official Christmas hostess for family at her home every year. She attended the First Central Baptist Church and was a strong example of her faith and deeply loved her family. She enjoyed being with them any time she could and she was very dedicated to being a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She will always hold a tender and loving place in the hearts of her family. Her family rests in the knowledge that she is rejoicing in heaven being reunited with her beloved sister and their mother.
A memorial service for Ernestine Applegate will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Dr. Wade Bridges officiating.
Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory and arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
