Doyne Alphus Johnson

Doyne A. Johnson, age 93, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away on June 23, 2026. He was born on August 30, 1932, in Piggott, Arkansas, to Albert and Lula Johnson.

Doyne lived a life devoted to faith, family, education, and ministry. He loved fishing, reading, and spending time with his family. On August 31, 1954, he married the love of his life, Addie Johnson, while attending Southern Baptist College. They shared more than 69 years of marriage until Addie's passing on December 27, 2023.

Doyne earned an Associate of Arts degree from Southern Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, in 1954 and later received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, in 1960. He dedicated 31 years to education as a classroom teacher, teaching grades fourth through sixth and specializing in Title I mathematics.

In addition to his teaching career, Doyne faithfully served the Lord for 52 years in ministry. Throughout those years he pastored Holly Island Baptist Church in Rector, Arkansas; New Antioch Baptist Church in Brookland, Arkansas; Bengin Baptist Church in Bengin, Arkansas; Oak Grove Baptist Church in Salem, Missouri; First Baptist Church in Bunker, Missouri; Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Salem, Missouri; and Brighton Baptist Church in Brighton, Missouri. Most recently, he served as Associate Pastor of Chestnutridge Baptist Church in Chestnutridge, Missouri.

Doyne's ministry extended far beyond the local church. He participated in mission work in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nebraska, and South Dakota, sharing the Gospel and serving communities wherever God called him. As Associational Moderator, he helped lead the purchase of an associational camp and organized a School of Missions within the Dent County Association. In the Polk County Association, he played a key role in building a home for international missionaries on furlough, providing a place of rest and encouragement during their time away from the mission field.

Those who knew Doyne will remember his unwavering faith, servant's heart, love for people, and dedication to sharing God's Word. His legacy lives on through the countless students he taught, congregations he served, missionaries he encouraged, and family members he loved dearly.

Doyne is survived by his daughter, Dalinda Smith (Dennis); grandchildren, Enoch Smith (Emily) of Utah, Elijah Smith (Abbie) of Montana, and Shiloh Lenox (Tommy) of Missouri; great-grandchildren, Ada Smith, Cora Smith, Gideon Smith, Ezra Smith, Paisley Lenox, Silas Smith, Joel Smith, and Flint Lenox; three nephews, two nieces; and special family friends, Tom and Anita Wisdom and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lula Johnson; his wife, Addie Johnson; brothers, Raymond Johnson and Henry Johnson; sisters, Francis Binkley and Marie Carter; two nephews and two nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Ron Adrian officiating. Burial will follow at Schupbach Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from at 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. before the funeral on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
