Donna Hanks

March 31, 1952 — February 28, 2022

Donna Marie Hanks, age 69, of Springfield, passed away on February 28, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born March 31, 1952 in Albert Lee, Minnesota, the youngest child of Luverne and Helen Larson.

At an early age the family moved to Sparta, Missouri.  Donna was a 1970 graduate of Sparta High School.  She worked for Sparta Bank as her first job.  Before staying home to raise her children, she worked for GMAC.  She was an owner of Hanks Home Center in Ozark working for 20 years and has worked for Mercy Hospital for the past 18 years.

Donna loved traveling, going to the lake, and walking her dog.  Her family meant the world to her, and she tried not to miss any of her grandson’s activities.  She enjoyed having a good time and always was fun to be around.  She enjoyed bunco with friends and just laughing with the group.

Donna was a member of Sparta First Baptist Church, and had attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church since May, 2013.

The family would like to extend a thank you to so many family members and friends who had been there for Donna during her illness.

Survivors include:  Her son Dusten Hanks and wife Kari of Ozark; her daughter Dena Kiss and husband Riccardo of Los Angeles, California; her grandson Lucas Hanks; sisters Linda Wallace of Thornfield, and Nancy Gardner and husband Don of Sparta; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Donald, Leo, Charles and Gail Larson, a sister, Charlene Swearengen, and niece Michelle Wallace Nilges.
