David L. VanHoose

June 13, 1940 — February 15, 2026

Springfield

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. David VanHoose on February 15, 2026, a beloved father and loyal friend.

Born on June 13, 1940, David met life’s challenges with a mix of friendliness, orneriness, and honest, straightforward charm. He had a frank way about him—never afraid to speak his mind—but it was paired with a deep, genuine care for people. David left behind a legacy of hard work, conviction, and the courage to stand firmly for what he believed. David lived life on his own terms, yet he always tried to follow the golden rule—treat others the way you want to be treated.

His faith in Jesus shaped so much of who he was and how he moved through the world. Friends, family, and music were constants in his life, grounding him no matter the season. Recently, he’d fallen in love with Jelly Roll’s gospel work and became an enthusiastic fan.

David is survived by his sons, Joel, Jason, and Aaron VanHoose, and his beloved daughter, Kelly Smith. David was predeceased by his mother, Viola VanHoose, and by his ex-wife, Charlotte VanHoose who passed away a few hours after him.  His memory will be kept alive by those who loved him most; his family and close friends.

The celebration of life service for David will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Adams Funeral Home in Ozark. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. immediately before the service.

We encourage everyone who knew and loved David to join us in celebrating his life and embracing the values he held dear.

Private burial will be held at Hopedale Cemetery in Ozark, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
