David Allen Hedgpeth

August 24, 1977 — July 3, 2025

Springfield

David Allen Hedgpeth, 47, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on July 3, 2025. He was born on August 24, 1977, to Elaine Blevins and Joe Hedgpeth. David was blessed to be raised and taught to love sports and competition by his stepfather, Jerry Blevins, while also sharing a fondness for the outdoors from his father, Joe.

David was married to the love of his life, Laura Hedgpeth, for over ten years. Though she preceded him in death, their years together were filled with deep love and cherished memories.

A 1996 graduate of Nixa High School, David was proud four-sport athlete, competing in basketball, football, baseball, and track and field. His passion for sports continued into adulthood, particularly through his love for golf, which he enjoyed playing for more than twenty years.

David was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs and loved watching games with his family. He also found joy and peace at the lake while boating, skiing, and fishing.

Known for his gregarious spirit, generous heart, and boundless energy, David had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. His presence lit up every room, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Elaine Blevins, and stepfather, Jerry Blevins, Nixa; his father, Joe Hedgpeth, and Joe’s partner, Marian Lamont, Dogwood; his brothers, Brandon (Nichole) Hedgpeth, Lee’s Summit, Jesse Hedgpeth, Ozark, and Jerrod Blevins, Nixa; his sister, Ericka Simmons, Cocoa Beach, FL; his nephews, Jonathan (Lizzie) Hedgpeth, Jordan (Chloe) Hedgpeth, Jace Blevins, and Bryson Blevins; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends—and his two beloved dogs, Cricket and Aura.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Hedgpeth; his paternal grandparents, Fern Hedgpeth, J.D. (Nancy “JoAnn”) Hedgpeth; his maternal grandparents, Clifford and Norma Allen; and his step-grandparents, Arvel and Ruby Blevins.
