Daniel Wade Barrett, 58, of Clever, MO died Friday, April 23, 2021. Daniel was born May 10, 1962 in, Patuxent River, Maryland. He was married on June 11, 2004 resulting in a 16-year marriage to Pamela Ann Barrett. He was a military brat and lived all over the country with his Navy father, mother and 5 siblings. He moved to the Kansas City area at the age of 12 and lived there most of his adult years. Four years ago, Dan and Pam moved to Clever, MO, to their country home. Dan was active as a young boy exploring the various bases they lived on, looking for adventures like crabbing, fishing and fort building. Dan was a lifelong carpenter who built many homes, remodels, and commercial projects. He retired when moving to Clever and took on many new interests. His interests included hunting, target shooting, fishing, boating, bowling, country dancing, carpentry, golf and he was an avid KC Chiefs and Royals fan. Known in the community as Big-D, Dan never met a stranger and was always lending a helping hand. After moving to Clever, MO, Dan volunteered with St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Knights of Columbus, Care To Learn and The Miracle League softball teams for disabled children and adults. The activities he enjoyed most in life were spending time with his kids and grandkids, being on or near the water, traveling and enjoying the sunshine and a good party being surrounded by family and friends. Daniel W. Barrett is proceeded in death by his father Ronald Barrett and nephew Brock Barrett. He is survived by his beloved wife Pamela Barrett of Clever, MO; former wife Teri Minden of Edwardsville and their daughter Shelby Barrett of Paola, KS; step-daughter Melissa Basgall (Garret) of Basehor, KS; step-daughter Amy Saunders (David) of Osawatomie, KS; step-son Eric Marsh (Brittany) of Overland Park, KS; 5 grandchildren; mother Joanne Steinbach (Glen) of Ferndale, WA; brother Michael Barrett of Overland Park, KS; sister Lavonne Barrett of Lone Jack, MO; sister Jannette Marsh (Michael) of Osawatomie, KS; Gary Barrett of Paola, KS; Ronald Barrett (Lisa) of Buckeye, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held in both Osawatomie, KS and Nixa, MO: A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11:00 am followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 1, 2021. Services to be held at Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, 203 Main St., Osawatomie, KS, 66064. A second service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021, at 6:00 pm, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 844 S. Gregg Rd., Nixa, MO 65714. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Big D’s name to the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, PO Box 1920, Nixa, MO 65714.
