Chester Cox, age 88 of Nixa, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. He was born March 30, 1935 in Clever, Missouri, the son of Lester and Dora (Jones) Cox. Chester was united in marriage to June Wimmer on July 2, 1960 celebrating 63 years together.
Chester had an amazing love for his family. He was a devoted husband. He was a caring father and his children cherished the love that he gave. He also enjoyed his family dogs. He loved to tell stories of his past because that was what molded him into the man that he was. He was able to take those moments of his life and learn how to do almost anything. He was very good at fixing things. He rebuilt tractors and cars. One of his hobbies was fishing. Chester was very active at his church, Ozark Baptist Church. He served as deacon, trustee, helped remodel the church, was a Sunday school teacher and did a lot of maintenance for the church. He was a man that loved people and loved visiting and building relationships. He was very proud of his service to his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include: Chester's wife June Cox; a son Eddie Cox and a daughter Teresa Cox; a sister Nola Harris; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Frances Gryder and Opal Gryder; three brothers, Cletis, Howard, and Carmon Cox.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, December 15, 2023 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Pastor Carl Curtis and Pastor Ed Keithley officiating. Burial will follow at McConnell Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
