Cheryl Lynn Scott

May 22, 1953 — September 28, 2025

Highlandville

On September 28, 2025, we said goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, and sister, Cheryl Scott. She was a joy-filled woman whose laughter was instantly recognizable. Cheryl had a gift for hospitality—welcoming all to her home with a meal, games, and non-stop laughter.

She carried a soft heart for the lonely, the hurting, and the underdog. A lifelong caregiver, she worked in home health, cared for her mother-in-law Goldie, and led the seniors’ group at First Baptist Church in Rolla, Missouri. Later, she opened her home to international students, welcoming them like family while they were far from home.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis decades ago, Cheryl faced her illness with determination and humor—often zipping around on her mobility scooter with fearless speed.

The third of ten children in the Rogers family, she shared countless hours of games, food, and laughter with her siblings: Chloe (Doug), Gwen (Vic), Randy (Judi), Dennis (Doris), Steve (Shari), Larry (Barb), Teresa (Greg), David (Donnetta), infant Marsha, and Ron (Liz) and other beloved family: Boris, Daphne, Diane, and Donna.

In 1973, Cheryl married Randy Scott. Their love story began at a Halloween party with Edgar Allan Poe and psychedelic music and grew from there over 52 years of marriage. They loved each other’s quirks and enjoyed a relationship where they each could show up fully as themselves. Together they raised three children—Rachel (Ed), Tim (Renee), and Matt (Hunter)—and built a family centered on love, faith, and laughter. She cherished her 13 grandchildren: Moriah, Whitney (Joe), Caleb, James, Calvin (Gabby), Noah, Megan, Kirby (Maria), Steven, Hannah, Eli (Lacy), Sean, and Chloe, as well as her great-granddaughter, Jorah. Through marriage, Cheryl also became close to Randy’s siblings: Rod (Ann), Rick, and Renee (Alain).

Above all, Cheryl’s faith defined her life. A devoted follower of Christ, she worked to be His hands and feet, leaving behind a legacy of service, compassion, and love. She took great hope in being reunited in heaven with her mother, Elvera as well as her father Doyle, sister Marsha (infant), brothers David, Dennis, and Steve, her brother-in-law Doug, sister-in-law Judi, Randy’s parents Harley and Goldie, and many others in her extended family.

The family will be hosting a memorial service that will be held at Hope Bible Church, 173 Pieper Road, O’Fallon, MO 63366 on October 25, 2025.
