C.J. "Joe" Barnhart of Nixa, Missouri, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born on April 24, 1933, to Elmer and Nanalee (Barnes) Barnhart.
C.J. graduated from Galena High School and developed a strong work ethic early in life, working alongside his grandfather Charley Barnes building boats and selling newspapers. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict, stationed in Europe and North Africa.
On December 23, 1956, C.J. married Wanda (Pritchard) Barnhart, and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage.
C.J. was a skilled carpenter and homebuilder, founding "Barnhart and Sons," where he passed on his dedication and craftsmanship to his sons, working side by side in construction. He also worked as an airplane inspector for McDonnell Douglas and later served as a postal worker for 25 years in Aurora, Missouri.
He loved fishing, traveling, and reading. Known for his hardworking spirit, C.J. was always willing to lend a helping hand and was a supportive and dependable. He will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, and dedication to both his family and his work.
C.J. is survived by: his wife Wanda Barnhart; two sons, Perry (Catherine) Barnhart, Doug (Dawna) Barnhart; seven grandchildren; two greatgrandkids.
C.J. is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Nanalee Barnhart; one son, Jeff Barnhart.
C.J.'s legacy lives on in those who had the privilege to know and work alongside him.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa and cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory.
