Carla Ann Yambert

Carla Ann (Wikstrom) Yambert, 98, passed away on July 2, 2026. She was born September 27, 1927, in Kent County, near Grand Rapids, Michigan. Carla met her husband, Paul, in a college biology class at the University of Michigan, beginning a marriage that would last more than seventy-two years. The first home they built together, in Cobden, Illinois, was featured in the Mother Earth News for its dedication to living gently with the land, and they went on to make a few more moves together over the years. It was their home in Murray, Kentucky, that holds a special place in the hearts of all of their grandchildren, full of fond memories built over many visits. Carla was known for her warmth, her humor, and her deep love of growing things, especially her cherished collection of African violets. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who made everyone around her feel truly seen. Carla was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and two of her five children, Nels and Jens ("Jay") Yambert. She is survived by her children Karl (Helen) Yambert, Laura (Vern) Reeder, and Jon (Connie) Yambert, along with a large and loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
