Bonnie Louise Devlin

Bonnie Louise Devlin, 80, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away September 17, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born April 25, 1946, in Hedrick, Iowa, to Luther and Alma Barr.

Bonnie was raised on a farm and grew up knowing that life was not always easy. She attended a one-room schoolhouse and learned the value of hard work, family, and making the most of what you had.

One day, Bonnie met a sailor named Robert. The attraction was not instant—she thought he was a little ornery—but before long, love blossomed. Bonnie and Robert were married August 1, 1965. Together, they moved to California when Robert was transferred there and began their family.

Bonnie worked alongside Robert at his company, EMC, Electrical Maintenance Construction, where she was known for keeping everyone there in line. At home, she was a strict mother, but her family always knew that her expectations came from love. She wanted to give her children the things and opportunities she had not had growing up. She was an active member of the PTA, attended her children's events, and made sure there was always time for special family outings, including trips to Shakey's Pizza.

In 1996, Bonnie and Robert moved to Nixa, Missouri, where Bonnie eventually retired from working. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and made many special things for her family. She also loved bowling, reading mystery novels, and visiting craft shows, local orchards, and antique stores. She especially enjoyed reading Danielle Steel novels.

Some of Bonnie's happiest moments were spent with her grandson, Joseph, whom she lovingly called JR. She especially enjoyed sitting with him under the willow tree and hunting for rocks together. She was also an amazing cook and an excellent pie and cake maker. She even took classes in cake decorating, and her specialty was a white cake with homemade buttercream frosting.

Bonnie will be remembered for her strong spirit, loving heart, hard work, and the many ways she cared for and provided for her family. Most of all, she treasured the time spent with those she loved.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Robert Devlin; her children, Deborah (David) Perry and Robert (Lila) Devlin II.; her grandson, Joseph (Laurin) Perry; her sister, Bettye Coffin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Alma Barr; and her siblings, Barbara Stradling, Carl Barr, and Mary Barr.

Services will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home and cremation rites are accorded by Adams Crematory.
