Billy Gene Swearengin

March 26, 1930 — August 25, 2025

Nixa

Bill Swearengin, a faithful servant of God, received his crown of life on August 25,2025, just in time to celebrate his sweetie’s birthday with her on August 26th in heaven!

Bill was born in Elkhead, MO, on March 26,1930, to Albert & Ruby Swearengin, the second of 7 children. He graduated from Fordland High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army.

After the Army, he went to work for Producer’s Creamery for many years. He decided to take the civil service test, and upon passing, became a U.S. Letter Carrier. He enjoyed his many customers along his route on Commercial Street in Springfield, MO. He was also honored when his fellow mail carriers elected him Chaplain – an office he held until his retirement.

Bill loved music! He played his guitar at all our family gatherings and passed on his skills to many nephews who were patient enough to sit and learn. In later years, he took up the steel guitar and the dobro which he enjoyed picking and strumming.

Before his difficulties with mobility began, you would find him and Faye at different Blue Grass Festivals around. He loved Blue Grass music! One of his favorite festivals was Starvy Creek. If Gene Reasoner was there, so was our Dad!

He attended Faith Non-Denominational Church in Monett, MO, and later became a faithful member of Ozark Assembly of God until the time of his passing. He was a man of deep faith and practiced what he believed. He taught an adult Sunday School Class and was highly regarded by all who attended.

Bill married the love of his life, Faye, on November 30, 1962. She preceded him to heaven on July 29th of this year. He is also proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers Clifford, Howard, and Darrell, and his sister Alberta, and his beloved daughter, Debbie.

He is survived by his children Cheryll Eoff and husband Steve of Nixa, Bud Swearengin, and Sharon Robertson and husband Leonard of Ozark. 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, his brother Freddie, and wife Bobbie, his sister, Mary, a host of nieces and nephews, and friends who all loved and adored him. "A man with man with friends and family and Jesus is rich indeed!"

A funeral service will be held on September 4th, 2025, at 10:30am at Adams Funeral Home Nixa with a visitation preceding. Committal services will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri at 1:00 with full Military Honors.
