Billy Joe Garrison, age 96, died October 27, 2023. He was born February 26, 1927 to Roy Brian Garrison and Florence Elizabeth (Farthing) Garrison, in McCracken, Missouri.
Bill was baptised at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, McCracken, Missouri in May 1941 by Pastor Roscoe Harding.
Bill left school after completing the 10th grade. He went to work for Nixa Cheese from 1942 – 1947; for Armor in Springfield, Missouri from 1947-1960; Highland Dairy, Springfield, Missouri in 1960, retiring from the plant in 1984.
After retiring, Bill enjoyed gardening, fishing, and maintaining his rental properties on North Prospect.
Bill married Catherine Virginia Hulett on November 8, 1949. To this union three sons were born: Gary Gene, Raymond Lee and Tim Allen.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Phyllis June Garrison.
He is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Gary Garrison, Willard, Missouri, Raymond & Clara Mae Garrison, Springfield, Missouri, and Tim Garrison, Springfield, Missouri.
Survivors also include: four grandchildren, Kristin (Josh) Ratliff, Bryant Garrison, Amber Garrison, and Daniel (Alia) Garrison; three step-grandchildren, Michael (Jamie) Oberly, Nicholas Oberly, and Justin Oberly; five great grandchildren, Kamron Humphrey, Katelyn Garrison, Emma Ratliff, Braxton Garrison, and Kennedy Garrison; six step-great grandchildren, Megan (Dray) Schenker, Cody (Ally) Oberly, Wyatt (Tylar) Oberly, Tylor Witcher, Drake Witcher, and Abby Calyean; and one great great granddaughter, Olivia Walsh.
A funeral for Billy Joe Garrison will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2023 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Jeffrey Ables officiating. Burial will follow at Garrison Cemetery at McCracken in Ozark. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. immediately before the funeral in the funeral home.
