Betty Keithley Sackett

January 12, 1926 — July 29, 2011

Betty Lou (Keithley) Sackett, age 84, of Walnut Shade, passed away Friday, July 29, 2011 at home. She was born October 12, 1926, in Bluff, Missouri, the daughter of James Elmer Lee Keithley and Mabel Allie (Cupp) Keithley. She graduated from Chadwick High School and began teaching school at age 17. As a volunteer at O"�Reilly Hospital in Springfield, she met her future husband when he entered the hospital as an injured World War II Veteran. She and Jay Ward Sackett were united in marriage on September 14, 1945. During their years in Colorado, Betty worked as a pre-school teacher and administrator. She was a lifetime member of the DAV Women"�s Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, crocheting and needlework. Betty attended Chestnutridge Baptist Church and most recently New Haven Baptist Church. Survivors include: three daughters, Verna Lumpkin and husband Michael, Alabama, Donna Corner and husband Michael, Walnut Shade, and Debra Sackett and husband Dana Scott, Colorado; seven grandchildren, JoAnn, Betty Diane, William, Carie, Stephanie, Joshua, and Angela; several great and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Annabelle Dalton, Taneyville; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, a daughter and her husband, Linda and William Gutirrez, a son, Verlin Jay Sackett, a grandson, Oran Jay Gutirrez, and a sister, Thelma Bilyeu. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 2, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Pastor Hosea Bilyeu officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Walnut Shade. Visitation will be from 6:00 "� 7:00 PM Monday in the funeral home.
