Anita Lynn Swaffordd

Anita Lynn Swafford, also known as Aunt NiNi, was born at Nellis AFB, Nevada, on August 2, 1961, to Donald and Delores Swafford. She left this earthly realm peacefully surrounded by family and her beloved dog, Ruger, on August 13, 2026, in Nixa, Missouri, at the age of 65.

Anita met life with a smile, an eye wink, and that unmistakable scrunched-up nose that could say more than words ever could. She had a warmth that was entirely her own. Anita had a compassionate heart and a deep capacity to care for others. She gave of herself to ensure others were provided for and loved. When her mother became afflicted with dementia, she dedicated her life to caring for her. This was a profound expression of the love she carried for her family. She was a fierce protector of the ones she loved.

In her later years, Anita found joy at her farm. She loved the land, the quiet, the simplicity, her animals. It was a place where she found peace. Anita loved all animals. Her fur babies were a source of unconditional love and comfort throughout her life. Her family finds peace in knowing that Anita is now reunited with Baxter, Tucker, Sophie (Beans), Ribblet (Ribbers) and Miss Katie Joe.

Anita will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her father, Donald Swafford, and stepmother, Peggy; her brother, Wesley Swafford, and sister-in-law, Donna; her sister, Valerie Dueker; her beloved nieces and daughters of the heart, Kelsie Cason and Brittney Wood; and the many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Smith; her sister and best friend, Donna Lavonne Swafford; her brother-in-love, Gene White (Geno); her brother, Joseph Wayne Swafford; and her grandparents.

In lieu of flowers and donations, the family asks those who wish to honor Anita to do so by choosing love, extending grace, finding reasons to laugh often, remaining optimistic, loving your pets, sitting outside and letting the world be quiet for a while, writing down what you feel, and remembering that a simple act of kindness can matter more than we realize.
