Allen Leroy Hedgpeth

December 14, 1939 — July 20, 2022

Allen Leroy Hegdpeth, age 82, peacefully passed away on July 20, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was surrounded by the love of his family. Leroy formerly of Nixa, Missouri, and currently Cedar Creek, Missouri.

 

Leroy was born on December 14, 1939, in Clever to the late Victor and Thelma (Sanders) Hedgpeth. Leroy grew up in the Clever and Nixa area and attended Clever High School.

 

Leroy worked for Central Dodge in Springfield for many years, later owned and operated Leroy’s full-service Phillips 66 station in Nixa, and lastly he worked for the Christian County Road Crew before reaching retirement.

 

Leroy was a devoted and loving father and grandfather, always there for them and anyone who needed him. He would never turn away anyone in need, and never expected anything in return, even recognition.  Leroy was an adamant fisherman throughout his life. He enjoyed the outdoors not only through fishing, but through hunting, fish fries, and get-to-togethers hosted for family and friends to bring everyone together for laughs and good tasting food.

 

Leroy was former president of the Nixa Jaycees in his earlier years. He belonged to the Abou Ben Adhen Greeters for decades on. Throughout the years, he continued to be very involved with the community by being included with various local bowling leagues, helping local townspeople with their vehicles, and ultimately being a high-ranking member of the annual Nixa Sucker Day.

 

His first marriage was to Sharon (Young) Jobe and together they had two children, Terri and Mark. He married Patsy Middleton, July 14, 1989, only until death did, they part on April 23, 2011.

 

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patsy Middleton Hedgpeth, brother JB Hedgpeth, nephew Randy Hedgpeth and grandson Logan Middleton. He is survived by his son Mark Hedgpeth of Ketchum Idaho, daughter Terri Nusbaumer of Nixa, grandchildren Dustin Newton and partner Brittany, Kassandra Nusbaumer and partner Jeremiah, Natalie Nusbaumer. His like-sons: Jeffrey Douglas, Jon Newton, Mike Nusbaumer. Stepsons: Splinter and Geno Middleton. Granddaughter & Grandsons: Chelsey, Dusty and Wesley Middleton, Brittney Eaton and husband Shawn, Jerrin O’Dell. Great grandchildren: Michael J, Autumn, Dexter, Lane, Lakin, Briley. Sister-in-law: Bonnie Hedgepeth, and numerous family members and beloved friends.

 

In Leiu of fowers, memorial contributions may be given to Terri Nusbaumer Memorial Fund at Southern Bank.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Family will receive friends during a time of visitations from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the funeral home. Leroy will be laid to rest in Delaware Cemetery.
